Senior Embedded Software Developer - Platforms team
We usually respond within two weeks
LumenRadio is a high-tech company with the vision of replacing all cables in the world. Since 2008, we have been leading the wireless transformation within the lighting industry, with our technology being used daily in productions ranging from major Hollywood movie sets to large events such as the Coachella festival and the Eurovision Song Contest. Our patented technology provides unprecedented reliability for the most business-critical applications and our products are now also used in building automation solutions, street lighting as well as indoor lighting control for commercial buildings.
About the Platforms Team
The Platforms team consists of dedicated engineers who build and maintain the technical foundation of LumenRadio’s product portfolio. The team selects, refines, and develops shared technologies used across our product development teams.
With responsibility spanning both hardware and software, the Platforms team ensures the evolution of our platforms and core technologies. The team develops our proprietary embedded OS and network stack Mira, widely used across our products and known for its reliability and energy efficiency, enabled by patented adaptive frequency hopping technology.
Our work is guided by our values, RISE: Reliability, Innovation, Simplicity and Energy. They remind us to be dependable, open to new ideas, keep things simple, and bring energy into everything we do.
Your future
We are now looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer who enjoys hands-on development, takes technical ownership, and contributes to how the platform evolves.
You will work broadly across embedded software, contributing to architecture, design, and implementation. The role suits you who looks beyond individual tasks, consider system-level impact, and help the team focus on what matters most for the product.
An important part of the role involves greenfield development, including work on a next-generation wireless technology platform aimed at becoming the obvious wireless choice for the entertainment lighting industry. You will be involved early, helping shape structure and technical direction from the ground up.
Beyond development, you will take part in documentation, testing, and technical support, staying close to real-world usage and customer needs.
In short, you will:
Develop embedded software for microcontrollers and platform-level systems
Contribute to architecture with a focus on modular, maintainable designs
Work closely with hardware engineers to make sound, pragmatic decisions
Take part in greenfield platform development and new technology initiatives
Take responsibility across the development lifecycle, from design to deployment
Contribute as a senior technical voice, supporting clarity and progress in the team
About you
You are an experienced embedded developer who is comfortable taking responsibility beyond your own code. You work close to hardware, understand real-world constraints, and think in terms of systems rather than components.
You communicate clearly and enjoy working together to make technical decisions that lead to robust and innovative solutions.
To succeed in this role, we believe you have:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
Several years of hands-on experience in low-level C firmware development
Experience working across the full development process, including testing and documentation
An interest in architecture and platform-level design
Experience with CI/CD and hardware-in-the-loop testing
Fluency in English, written and spoken
Our tech stack:
GNU tools, such as arm-gcc, make, and gdb
The editor of your choice
Bluetooth, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, RS485, and proprietary radio protocols
